Confined spaces are places that are sufficiently large and configured for access by at least one operator, but whose primary function is not to accommodate people. In these environments the risk of serious injury or death is very high, due to the difficulties of access and exit, especially in an emergency. These environments present additional risk factors due to the possible presence of toxic substances, flammable gases and/or vapours, or dangerous conditions, such as lack or excess of oxygen.
